Volume 1. Paradox Pond
All mermaids know that to travel on earth with the Earthwalkers, you need to live under the Logic Spell. Under its influence, mermaids forget they are mermaids and learn to think and act like Earthwalkers, who are considered “normal” and “logical.” Earthwalker behaviors are governed by “reason” and “ordinary rules,” whereas mermaids live in a world where loving-kindness and the heart rule, and the mind and logic come second.
In the final books of the trilogy, our mermaid heroine Venus takes a heroic dose of the Logic Spell and takes a solo journey onto land for four days, where she encounters a mysterious place called Paradox Pond. An “involcano” sucks energy inward (rather than spewing lava outward, like “normal” volcanos), icicles form on warm surfaces and float UP into the sky, saltwater creatures inhabit freshwater ponds, and dreams feel just as real as waking reality.
Venus is confused by what she sees at Paradox Pond, and tries to make sense of her surroundings using both logic and intuition. Remembering that insight and self-awareness bring safety, she sits down on a log near the pond and gazes into space - her favorite meditation. While she is meditating, she is visited by a mosquito, who gently bites her on the left arm.
The mosquito bite makes her unusually sleepy, and Venus falls asleep. She has a magical dream where she has a lion’s head, and Venus discovers that the mosquito that just bit her is actually a magical female called the 14th Billion Mosquito of Great Compassion. Along with the mosquito, Venus also encounters a land shark, an octopus and a sea horse on land and learns something special from each of them. Because she has a lion’s head, she can communicate with the animals in their language fluently, as well as communicating with plants, helping spirits and rocks.
Unbeknownst to her, Venus is under the guidance of several helper beings from Charm School shapeshifted onto land from Mermadia. They have come to challenge her to make sure she is ready for earth. They create tests to remind her of her power to be wise, loving and kind – and to remember that her mind is what makes reality.
When Venus wakes up, she does not remember her entire dream - only parts of it. She ventures further into the wilderness, and over time something strange happens: she keeps meeting various animals that seem to recognize her. Each animal seems familiar, but she has no idea why. It’s like deja vu.
In a series of vignettes, Venus interacts with each unique animals and learns something magical from all of them. Mirroring childhood development, Venus will explore paradox and duality in this book, such as why bad things happen to good animals, how day cannot exist without night, why nature seems to send clear messages but logic makes you doubt it, and how both logic and intuition have their up and down sides.

Volume 2. Outwardly Inward Bound
In Paradox Pond, Venus came across some magical animals, such as the 14th Billion Mosquito of Great Compassion. This book - the last installment of the kids’ series - is from the animals' perspective. The animals include but are not limited to: a landshark, an octopus, a whale, an elephant, a chipmunk, a parrot, a wolf and a jellyfish.
How do the animals view Venus? What do they think of earthgirls?
Can they share some intuitive wisdom with Venus to help her wake up from the Logic Spell? What magical sixth senses do these animals have, that can help Venus survive and thrive on earth? This book explores how Venus reconnects with her natural power.
